MilkTrust is software that a village milk collection centre uses to record milk, rates, advances and payments, and that lets each farmer see their own statement on their phone. This page explains what it collects, why, where it is kept and how to have it removed.
Who we are
MilkTrust is run by Skipoye Technologies Private Limited, 677, 1st floor, 13th Cross, 1st Sector, HSR Layout, Bengaluru, Karnataka 560102, India.
The records of a centre's farmers and milk are entered by that centre, and the centre decides what to record. We store and process them on the centre's behalf. For the accounts of the people who sign in, and for a centre's subscription, we are responsible for the data ourselves.
What we collect
| Data | About whom | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Name, phone number, village, card number | Farmers | To keep the centre's register and let a farmer sign in to see their own statement |
| Milk quantity, fat, rate and amount for each session | Farmers | To work out what each farmer is owed |
| Advances, deductions and payments | Farmers | To settle each payment period correctly |
| Name, phone number, place | Buyer dairies | To record milk sent to them |
| Name, phone number, role | Centre owners and staff | To sign in and control what each person may do |
| Who changed what, and when | Everyone who signs in | To keep an honest record of edits, so a figure can always be traced |
| Subscription plan and status | Centres | To bill the centre for MilkTrust |
We do not collect your location, contacts, photos or files, and the app contains no advertising, analytics or tracking. We do not sell data or use it for advertising.
Signing in
You sign in with your phone number. We send a one-time code to that number on WhatsApp. Codes expire after five minutes and are stored only in a scrambled (hashed) form.
Who else handles the data
We use a small number of service providers. Each handles data only to do its job for us:
- Amazon Web Services — runs the app and keeps backups, in Mumbai, India.
- MongoDB Atlas — the database, in Mumbai, India.
- Meta (WhatsApp) — delivers sign-in codes. It receives your phone number and the code.
- Razorpay — collects a centre's subscription payment. Card and bank details go to Razorpay directly; we never see them.
We share data with no one else, except where Indian law requires us to.
Where it is kept and how it is protected
All records are stored in India. Every connection to MilkTrust is encrypted. Each centre's records are kept apart from every other centre's, and each person sees only what their role allows: a farmer sees only their own statement.
How long we keep it
Records are kept while the centre uses MilkTrust, because a centre needs its past payments to settle accounts. Backups are deleted automatically after 35 days. When a centre stops using MilkTrust, or a person asks us to delete their account, we remove the data within 30 days, except anything the law requires us to keep, such as billing records.
Your rights
You can ask us to show you the data we hold about you, correct it, or delete it. You can also ask your centre, which can correct most details directly. To delete your account, see Delete your account.
Contact and grievances
For any question or complaint about your data, write to support@milktrust.com. We reply within 7 days and resolve complaints within 30 days. If you are not satisfied, you may complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
Changes
If we change how we handle data, we will update this page and the date at the top.
